Since April 2016, water protectors have taken a stand at Cannonball, ND against Energy Transfer Partners building the Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL). This1,172-mile pipeline crosses four states; any leakage from the pipeline threatens the drinking water of millions of people. The original pipeline was supposed to go through a town just south of Bismarck but the predominately white residents were worried about a threat to their water. Thus, the path was moved to unceded lands of the Standing Rock Sioux.
